When they finally meet, they are completely different people and questions arise as to whether their lives have changed too much. There was a point with Hudson being brought in as a third wheel. So yes, I would definitely recommend this one. Tragedy strikes and timid Maryann is no more, left for dead, thinking her mate has abandoned her she most forge ahead. Only one other series of Mandy's has managed to do this to me on such deep levels, which also happens to be the first series of hers I read - Daughter of Darkness! In this world of magik, mishap, demons, gods, and pleasure nymphs, anything is possible. Just didn't like it which is unfortunate. Ryan cannot survive without Hudson's life force.
The world and story building is on par for the caliber of writing you can expect from Mandy, in other words, excellent. I love that she is humble, but not wimpy. I've already begun to squint when it was listed for free for unlimited users but got it anyways. She has some great ones! At that point, the author may as well do a book starting from those points instead. I felt like a ton of information was just dumped on the reader.
There were a lot of points brought up throughout the story trying to emphasise that he wouldn't view a child sexually. Madelyn is more then just a Guardian. Will all the revelations be too much? Then there is the current ex, can you say two timing douche? Both Brady and Madelyn are holding out on each other. This is Ryan and Hudson's story. But, the only heart he wants to win is that of his mate, Madelyn.
It started out interesting too but the longer it went on, the more my distaste for it grew. Hudson Carver has waited a lifetime for his mate. Oh man I wanted to like this. It had almost every story point that I hate. It was like beating me over the head with a hammer over and over.
There were so many interesting characters, that as a reader, you became hooked!!! I enjoyed the strong female character, and loved how everything flows through out the book. Mandy lives in Oxford, Mississippi with her husband and three boys. And now everyone is a god with new powers. There are vampires, lucans, werewolves, gods and goddesses, demons, sex nymphs, guardians and hybrids of all the above. I already bought the 2nd book and can't wait to start it.
I loved all of the different characters that Mandy thought of. Instead it I wanted to like this. Can we concentrate on the story now? I've read a lot of crappy books--I went through this whole young adult vampire phase that I can't think about without feeling embarrassed--but this book was just as bad, if not worse than angst-filled vampire teen sap. The next book looks like it deals with different main characters, which I'm looking forward to, but I also hope we get more from Madelyn and Brady. Madelyn is more then just a Guardian.
Maddy's mate is a very sexy lycan king, Brad has great power as well. So yes, I would definitely recommend this one. If you like gods, goddesses, shifters, vampires, nymphs and magic with a bit of save the world then you need to read The Guardians. Things that were mysteries begin to make so much sense for Madelyn. With everything that she puts up with around her, she really has her hands full! Hudson Carver, Guardian and alpha shifter, spends his time taking out evil. If you haven't read the first book in the Guardian series, I recommend read first as it will give some insight into the characters. Then there is the current ex, can you say two timing douche? I recommend it to all paranormal romance with hot Alpha males with steamy hot scenes that will make your legs get weak at that moment! Sweet Maryann is dead and Ryan has emerged from her ashes, a slayer with one final task to complete.
However, sometimes fate can be a cruel mistress. Brady starts out as a ladies man and typical movie star and crash lands as Madelyn's bitch. There was nothing for me to be worked up over. To view it, I really tried to give this book the benefit of the doubt. Old loves come back into her life, family she didn't know existed. To put my complaints bluntly, there were very few redeeming qualities that I saw in the first third of the book, which was all I could manage to get through.
Nine times after losing her virginity? I think Mandy Roth is a wonderful writer and she never forgets any of the details in her work. Her position with the guardians though holds an obligation of secrecy. Do you see my point? This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. She has no idea the power she wields, literally. There is a lot of potential for spins and twists and turns.
From the very beginning, she showed signs of creativity. Mandy lives in Oxford, Mississippi with her husband and three boys. I mean excuse me, can you say spoiler alert? Ryan went from sheltered, pampered and protected mate-to-be to kick butt slayer in the blink of an eye and at the cost of her twin. I can say I enjoyed how this was written, it unfolds bit by bit, and that part was writing at it's best. As the evil looms large so the story continues and I am so looking forward to the next adventure.
